French investigators are not letting go of the Chevaline affair. The pole cold cases of Nanterre and the Chambéry research section will organize a new situation on October 17, announces RTL. Objective: to try to solve this quadruple murder which occurred on September 5, 2012 near the small village of Haute-Savoie, not far from Lake .

This re-establishment will be held on a disused air base in Île-de-France in the presence of several players in the case, including lawyers for the victims, several concordant sources confirmed to French radio. The latter does not specify whether it will be a ballistic reconstruction, the chronology of the tragedy or another element of the case, nor whether witnesses to the tragedy (a motorcyclist and a cyclist) will be summoned.

An unsolved mystery

Twelve years ago, three members of the same Iraqi family (the father, the mother and the mother-in-law) were shot dead in their car, found on the Combe d’Ire forest road. Two little girls were in the vehicle, one of whom was seriously injured. A 45-year-old cyclist from the region was also found shot to death at the scene.

Since then, hundreds of leads have been explored and multiple investigative actions carried out. The pole cold cases took over the case in 2022. Last May, new DNA analyzes on seals from the period were launched. In particular on cigarette butts, on the cyclist’s outfit and on the clothes of one of the little girls. The judge also requested the expertise of a fragment of a plate from the butt of a Luger P06-29 pistol, a Swiss weapon which equipped the military in the 1970s.
