CAC 40: Waiting for US inflation

After six consecutive sessions of increase and a new absolute record last Friday at 8,259 points, the CAC40 took a break yesterday while awaiting data on American inflation. The Parisian index closed timidly down 0.12% at 8,209 points.

On the value side, Téléperformance gained 3.85%, Stellantis 3.7%, Sanofi 2.36%, Renault 2.17% and Carrefour 1.82% while Safran lost 1.41%, Airbus 1.18%, Pernod Ricard 1.07% and Publicis 0.88%.

Well oriented at the opening, the American indices closed in scattered order, in the absence of major statistics. The Dow Jones lost 0.21% to 39,431 points, the S&P500 fell 0.02% to 5,221 points and the Nasdaq100 gained 0.21%.

The CAC40 should therefore open around balance this morning.
Operators will take note of the Zew index in Germany at 11 a.m. then the PPI index in the United States at 2:30 p.m. before Jerome Powell’s intervention at 4 p.m.

Technically, the configuration remains unchanged. Only the sinking of yesterday’s lows would militate for the start of a consolidation with 8121/8078 points as the first bearish objectives. Otherwise, exceeding 8259 points would open the way to 8300 points.
