The Dax should start Thursday on the rise, depending on price developments on the futures markets.
On Wednesday, it closed up 1% at 19,254.93 points. Wall Street also rose. Investors are hoping that the inflation report to be released this afternoon will provide further guidance on the future path of interest rates from the US Federal Reserve (Fed). Experts polled by Reuters expect the inflation rate to fall further to 2.3% in September.
Last month, the US central bank had lowered the key monetary policy interest rate to the range of 4.75 to 5.00 percent with the rate change. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell expects two more easings this year, of half a percentage point in total. Transcripts of the September meeting, released Wednesday evening, confirmed investors’ hopes for U.S. stock markets.
On Thursday, the minutes of the latest monetary policy meeting of the European Central Bank (ECB) are expected to be in the spotlight. The monetary institution lowered interest rates in September for the first time since the rate change in June. After the signals sent by the monetary authorities, many experts expect the ECB to take a further downward step at its next meeting next week.
