Silence at City Hall. The elected representatives of the Paris Council observed, this morning of Wednesday, October 9, a minute of silence in tribute to Philippine, the young 19-year-old student “atrociously murdered” on September 21 near the Bois du Boulogne, in the words of the mayor of Paris.
“We mourn the disappearance and assassination of Philippe, and want to provide all our support and affection in this dramatic ordeal,” declared Anne Hidalgo.
The young woman had disappeared the day before the discovery of her body, buried in the woods of western Paris, when she had left the Crous of Paris Dauphine University, to go to her parents in Montigny-le- Bretonneux (Yvelines).
The death of the student aroused strong emotion in the country.
A suspect was arrested, Taha Oualidatin Switzerland. He is a 22-year-old Moroccan, already convicted of rape and who was awaiting deportation to his country of origin.
