LONGUEUIL — A man accused of first degree murder for the murder of his partner in a Montreal suburb was on bail for having made threats against her at the time of the murder.
Shilei Du was charged today with the murder of Guangmei Ye, 29, in Candiac, in Montérégie.
Sergeant Frédéric Deshaies, of the Sûreté du Québec, said their investigators were called by local police to a residence in Candiac around noon on Sunday.
The charges filed at the Longueuil courthouse against Shilei Du, 36, allege that the murder took place on or around November 7.
According to court records, the man had previously appeared at the same courthouse over allegations that he made threats of death or bodily harm against Guangmei Ye on September 7.
Shilei Du pleaded not guilty the next day and was released on bail a day later. He appeared in court on November 6 for uttering threats.
The suspect, whose current address is listed in Montreal, was arrested Sunday at the house where his partner was killed.
The case is expected to return to court on November 19.
