As part of the European Heritage Days, the City inaugurated the third and final phase of the exhibition “Life on the farm from yesterday to today”, from the 2000s to the present day.

This exhibition, which is being held on the Grand’Place, is the result of collecting work carried out by four volunteer collectors, in collaboration with photographer Pierre Pann. It is visible until January.

This project traces the evolution of Briécoise agriculture through the testimonies and portraits of fifteen local farmers.

It highlights the diversity of production and agricultural lifestyle choices, with operations ranging from agrotourism to organic production, including the cultivation of orchards, dairy production and even the cultivation of Christmas trees.

“This collection is essential to understand the agricultural changes in our territory and to transmit this history to future generations. It is not only a question of preserving memories, but of perpetuating the agricultural identity of Briec, which remains plural and constantly evolving. underlined Thomas Férec, the mayor.

A book in preparation

The exhibition also highlights the evolution of roles within agricultural operations, in particular the growing place of women as farm managers. A summary work is in preparation, to allow a lasting trace of this collection and of the agricultural memory of Briec to be left.
