President Tebboune on the ANIE mess: “Sometimes men are not up to the task of institutions”

At the start of the periodic meeting with representatives of the written press, the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune spoke of the confusion which marked the announcement of the results of the presidential election by the president of the Independent National Electoral Authority ( ANIE).

He explained that his campaign management signed a joint press release with the two other presidential candidates, Youcef Aouchiche (FFS) and Abdellaâli Hassani Cherif (MSP) to remove ambiguities about what really happened.

“This is a first in the annals of elections” commented the Head of State. He affirmed that investigations are underway into these facts.

He considered that it is important to resolve these problems at the root so that they do not recur in the next elections. “We are heading towards very complex elections (municipal elections, editor’s note). There will be hundreds of candidates. There shouldn’t be any hiccups,” he anticipated.

President Tebboune fully defended ANIE, which he described as a constitutional institution, a pillar of democracy. He stressed that sometimes “men are not up to the task of institutions”.
