Charleroi lost to Dender 1-0 (half-time: 1-0) on the 10th day of the Belgian championship on Saturday.

Dender opened the scoring in the 13th minute of play thanks to a well-placed free kick from Lennard Hens (1-0). The goal, which will ultimately be the only one of the game, was however attributed, against his camp, to the Ivorian goalkeeper of Carolos, Mohamed Kone. The free kick was conceded by Jérémy Petris who received the yellow card and will miss the Walloon derby at Standard after the international break on October 20.

Charleroi tried in vain to close the gap, but notably came up against the Dutch goalkeeper from Dender, Michael Verrips, who released several hot balls, including a header from Ousou in the 75th minute.

Sporting is missing the boat a little. If successful, Rik De Mil’s men could provisionally take second place in the standings. The Carolos, however, occupy 8th place with 14 units in a ranking where the positions are still very tight.

Dender gave him a big back in the second half, and confirms his sharing with another Sporting, that of Anderlecht last weekend (1-1). The team of Vincent Euvrard, author of a very good start to the championship, occupies 5th place with 15 points, level with Westerlo and one point behind Antwerp and La Gantoise (14 points, but with one match less). Genk, despite its defeat in Kortrijk earlier in the evening (2-1), remains leader with 22 points.
