Consumer prices increased, in September 2024, by 0.8% compared to August 2024, according to a note published on Saturday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), devoted to the index consumer prices for the month of September 2024.
This increase is mainly attributed to the increase in food prices of 1.5% and the prices of the “Education” group of 3.9%.
On the other hand, prices of the “Clothing and shoes” group decreased by 0.1% following the extension of the summer sales season, explains the INS.
1.5% increase in food prices
Over one month, the prices of food products increased by 1.5%, due to the increase in prices of dried fruits by 5%, fresh fruits by 4.6%, poultry by 4.5% and vegetables. 4.2% fee.
On the other hand, beef prices fell by 1.5%.
Regarding the prices of educational products and services, they increased by 3.9%. This increase is mainly explained by the increase in the prices of school supplies by 4.2%, private secondary education services by 5.5%, tutoring courses by 3.4% and services of private pre-primary and primary education by 3.1%.
According to the INS, prices in the “leisure and culture” group increased by 1.4%. This increase is mainly explained by the increase in the prices of newspapers, magazines and cultural books of 7.1%.
