The Baic automobile factory, located in Oued Chabha in the wilaya of Batna, is preparing to resume its activities after a four-year shutdown. According to Yami Nabil, the vice-president and general manager of Baic Algeria, the factory is ready to operate again.

In accordance with the requirements of the Algerian government, the factory has an integration rate of 26%. This rate could increase to 34-36% thanks to the addition of new welding and painting units, work on which will begin soon. Ultimately, with the manufacturing of engines and gearboxes, the integration rate could reach 55%.

The factory covers an area of ​​40,000 square meters, of which 20,000 square meters are devoted to assembly and production. It will begin by assembling Baic brand vehicles, with the aim of complete production within two years. Production is expected to reach 150 vehicles per day.

In terms of employment, the factory will generate 930 direct positions, with a forecast of reaching 1,300 jobs in the long term. It will produce different types of vehicles, including passenger cars, pick-ups and mini-trucks.
