His father suspects malicious act – Death of Ibne Tayeeb Lazer: the CCID opens an investigation

He suspects his son, Ibne Tayeeb Lazer, 23, did not die of an overdose, as initially reported. Tayeeb Lazer, 57, should soon find out. Indeed, the Central Criminal Investigation Division (CCID) has opened an investigation. This development comes in the wake of a question that Osman Mahomed, deputy for constituency no. 2, Port-Louis South/Port-Louis Central, intends to address to the Prime Minister in Parliament next Tuesday.

The body of Ibne Tayeeb Lazer was found on fallow land on a dump in Chemin-Brûlé, Pailles, on April 5. Initially, an overdose was cited as the cause of death. But Tayeeb Lazer expressed doubts, suspecting a murder masked by an overdose. According to him, several elements raise doubts, in particular the injuries observed on his son’s body and the disappearance of his precious personal effects. Plus, he adds, his son had recently made the decision to kick his drug addiction and rebuild his life.

This is how MP Osman Mahomed became interested in this case, which he intends to raise in Parliament. He considers it important to clarify the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death, particularly after the post-mortem examination carried out by the police forensic doctor.

Asked, Osman Mahomed declared: “I attended the funeral of Ibne Tayeeb Lazer which took place just a few days before the end of Ramadan. Subsequently, I learned that the father harbored suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his son’s death. It was then that I contacted him and I then decided to send a parliamentary question to the attention of the Prime Minister on the formal representations of the father bearing the reference OB 5391/2024 to the Pailles police station . The parliamentary question, for its part, bears the reference B/277 and will be on the agenda next Tuesday. »

In the wake of his question, CCID officers went to Tayeeb Lazer’s house on Thursday. They explained to him that a thorough investigation is underway. “I am very grateful to MP Osman Mahomed for his support, while I was alone in this fight. I also thanked the CCID officers who came to see me this Thursday. They promised me to shed light on this matter,” says Tayeeb Lazer. He now hopes to get answers to his questions.
