Breathtaking images in perspective. The Olympic flame will continue its journey in the Bouches-du-Rhône department this Sunday, May 12. For this fourth stage, there will be 104 carriers taking it through 7 different cities. After her arrival in Marseille, her passage in the Var and in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, she will once again find the blue of the Mediterranean.

Sunday May 12 will open at Cassis (8:40 a.m.-9:45 a.m.) and more precisely at the entrance to the Calanque de Port-Miou where the flame will shine first. A nautical sequence will take place, notably with boxer Romain Peker-Goubin as carrier. The flame will then cross the city along the port, bordered by high cliffs. She will then continue her journey to Miramas (10:45 a.m.-11:05 a.m.) and will notably pass inside the Stadium (it will do two laps), an infrastructure so popular for water activities.

Then, at 11:20 a.m. and until 12:35 p.m., it’s time for Aix en Provence to the Cour Mirabeau and its famous Rotonde fountain. Direction then Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône (2:30 p.m.-2:35 p.m.), town which marks the entrance to the Camargue. The Flame will also pass through Istres (3:40 p.m.-4:30 p.m.), Eygalières (5:40 p.m.-6:10 p.m.) where a relay will begin near the Saint-Sixt chapel.

The flame will end the day at Arles (6:20 p.m.-7:20 p.m.), largest municipality in France. Its surface area is seven times larger than that of Paris. The stroll through the city will begin with the Arles Antique Departmental Museum which brings together a large collection of ancient objects, then at the cryptoportics, again a vestige of Roman times.

Then, she will follow in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh, who produced more than 300 drawings and paintings in Arles. The flame will therefore pass in front of the museum dedicated to the artist then to the Arlaten museum dedicated to the history of Provence.

Then, she will go to Place de la République and then go to the ancient theater whose construction dates back to 40 BC. The rest will take place at the Arena which was also built by the Romans. The flame will also pass through the impressive Luma Tower, an 11-hectare creative campus. Finally she will head to the celebration site, the Quai du 8 Mai 1945 facing the Rhône. At the end of an evening celebrating the values ​​of Olympism, the “mini-cauldron” will be lit in front of the Arlesians who came in large numbers.

The festivities will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the Quai du 8 Mai 1945 in Arles. At 7:20 p.m., the arrival of the last torchbearer and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron will take place.
