This July 18, 1989, Marcel D. hops on his moped to reach, at dawn, the woods of Saint-Romain-de-Jalionas (Isère). Alerted to the presence of numerous foxes, this 62 year old gamekeeper goes out into the cool to carry out his own observations. A heatwave is raging across France, with temperatures under shelter, during the day, included between 35 and 38°C.

A scorching summer

But the inspection drags on, and these are not the habits of the house. Intuitively, the sixty-year-old’s daughter worries about it around 9 a.m. No cell phone at the time to reassure loved ones of a hypothetical delay. And no cabin in the forest. She alerts the police. On the ground, beaten crisscross the perimeter. A helicopter flies over the area in search of the missing person.

At the end of the day, anxiety escalates several notches. THE gamekeeper’s rifle is exhumed from a cornfield that the ambient heatwave is on the verge of transforming into a sea of popcorn. Then it’s the body’s turn. Stupor. Marcel D. was shot. The beginning of the end for his assassins whose deadly drift started 500 km away, very close to Toulouse, two months earlier.

A young 22-year-old physiotherapist disappears

Tuesday May 30, 1989. Mohammed Merah uttered his first whimpers when Isabelle, a 23 year old physiotherapist, suddenly disappears in Toulouse. The young woman had a drink with friends. But she never arrived at the house that was to house her for the night. Overwhelmed with worry, his parents reported his absence to the police.

The anxiety reaches its peak when Isabelle’s car, a Opel CorsaEast found charred close to air base 101 of Toulouse-Francazal a few hours later. The police are not allowed to enter the military camp.

“This [sont donc] the police who [ont procédé] to the hearings of base personnel and [exploité] some 800 handwritten military files. No result…”

A body exhumed from a wheat field

Two months later, a farmer discovered a body, buried in the Wheat field that he harvests, near Saint-Lys (Haute-Garonne). Dental impressions confirm that it is the young physiotherapist. The results of theautopsy plunge those close to them into an abyss of pain. Isabelle was hit And sexually abused.

The hyoid bone is fractured. Sign of a strangulation. But not the shadow of a clue until July 13, 1989, strange hints of déjà vu seized the Toulouse region.

Two women in the trunk of the burned car

It was a truck driver who raised the alarm after seeing a charred 205 Peugeot in a field, 200 m from the famous air base. The vehicle was reported stolen.

In the trunkit is once again the horror that awaits the police. Two young women are lying. Calcined. Murdered. Who blames the women around Toulouse? Why does the military base appear implicitly in the three files?

1989 in Toulouse: the shadow of Patrice Alègre

Macabre coincidence. The year 1989 in Toulouse is also that of the (official) beginning of the murderous journey of (another) serial killer: Patrice Alègre. In February 1989, he took the life of Valérie Tariote, waitress at the station buffet in Matabiau. A work colleague. The 22-year-old young woman was found at her home in the Jolimont district, gagged and tied up. But investigators first concluded it was suicide.
It was not until Alègre’s arrest in 1997, a few days after Lady Di’s death, that he confessed to this crime. The first in a series of six recognized to date. In the summer of 1989, in the midst of the Francazal paratroops affair, Patrice Alègre became… a father. Her daughter was born on July 23. Ten days after the discovery of the two charred young women in the trunk of a Peugeot 205.

The gendarmes find answers to these questions thanks to the murder… of the Isère gamekeeper. Because two suspects are arrested. Coincidence, Thierry El Borgi And Philippe Siauve perform their military service at the famous Mobile Airborne Operational Base (Bomap).

The day before, these conscripts from the contingent, assigned to folding parachuteshave been reported as deserters. The justice system has known them since they were minors. In police custody, they confess. Their story is chilling with coldness.

They are looking for a car to steal

The evening of the kidnapping of Isabelleboth hang out in the streets of Toulouse in the company ofa 19 year old conscript, Thierry Jaouen. They are looking for a car to steal to return to the barracks when they target the young physiotherapist who is maneuvering to park. It’s around 12:30 a.m.

The trio unfortunately does not just steal his vehicle. The victim is kidnapped, raped in turn, strangled with a belt. His remains are larded with screwdriver blows before being buried in the field where the farmer found her.

Abducted at the exit of the funfair

Far from curbing them, wild ride galvanizes them. They do it again a few weeks later. El Borgi and Siauve, accompanied by Jaouen and Frank Feuerstein, are turned away at the entrance to a nightclub. They then cross the path of Noria, 18 years oldAnd Luisa, 12 years oldin Muret (Haute-Garonne).

On this eve of July 14, the two kids are waiting for the bus after having taken advantage of the funfair. They climb into the car of the accused, undoubtedly hoping to return home more quickly. A one way ticket to hell.

Noria is strangled. Luisa, rapedbefore suffering the disastrous fate of her comrade, finished at stab in the throat. Unspeakable savagery. Ad nauseam.

Coldness and security sentences

Aggravated murders, aggravated rapeacts of torture and of barbaritytheft, intentional assault and battery, acts of cruelty towards domestic animals (for having shot cows in Isère!)… The Haute-Garonne Assize Court did not find no extenuating circumstances to the accused, all aged around twenty.

El Borgi and Siauve received the heaviest sentence ever handed down in France at the time, namely the confinement to perpetuityaccompanied by 30 year safety period (only Michel Fourniret has since surpassed this quantum with a irreducible perpetuity inflicted, editor’s note). A legislative measure passed three years before their crimes.

A drift in Clockwork Orange mode

Perpetuity also for the two “followers”Jaouen and Feuerstein, with respectively 15 years and 13 years of security. A fashion drift Clockwork OrangeStanley Kubrik’s masterpiece on ultra-violence, released on screens in 1972.

For his good behavior in prison, Jaouen received a semi-liberty regime in 2009. “I think everyone is outside today,” confides to Toulouse News Me George Catala, who defended the family of the young physiotherapist. What no other judicial Source has been able to confirm to us in a more substantiated manner.

“For conditional release to be considered, first and foremost a college must three psychiatric experts examines the prisoners and renders a unanimous opinion »recalls a magistrate.

Three serial killers operate in parallel in Toulouse

Judge Gilbert Thiel recounts this audience anecdotedating from the spring of 1991. “Among the paratroopers, Philippe Siauve had the rating of 1/20 during selection tests to which he had been subjected. What [avait inspiré] the intense reflection of a rank-and-file officer: “ In our country, we detect imbeciles, not murderers! ».

Extremely rare fact. In this year 1989, Toulouse was the concomitant “playground” of… three serial killers. These criminals having killed at least three times in different units of place and time. Because once the aspirants neutralized paratroopers, It is Patrice Alegre which would plunge the Pink City into absolute horror. And this for a decade.
