The Bruins in the second round of the playoffs!

The Boston Bruins qualified for the second round of the playoffs on Saturday night.

In a spectacular scenario, Jim Montgomery’s men won 2-1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime in game number 7. They will therefore face the Florida Panthers in the second round.

This is the fourth time in a row that the Bruins have beaten the Queen City club in a Game 7.

Criticized by his head coach after the defeat in game number 6, David Pastrnak played the hero in overtime. He took advantage of a puck sent deep in the territory to beat goaltender Ilya Samsonov after making a nice feint.

The Maple Leafs thought they had the big end of the stick when they opened the scoring midway through the third period. After a turnover by defender Brandon Carlo, Auston Matthews, who was back for the last game of the series, grabbed the puck before passing it to William Nylander. The latter drew quickly to score his third goal in two games.

However, the Bruins did not give up and equalized 1 min 21 s after the Swede’s success thanks to Hampus Lindholm.

In goal, Jeremy Swayman was again excellent, stopping 30 shots. Samsonov rejected 29 of the 31 pucks aimed at him.
