In Kenya, bad weather has caused the death of 188 people, and 90 others are missing, according to information from the Ministry of the Interior. This tragedy occurs with the start of the rainy season in March, marking the country with catastrophic flooding. The consequences include impassable roads, destroyed infrastructure and completely submerged villages.

The Masai Mara National Park, a crucial site for tourism in southwest Kenya, is also suffering the ravages of the rains, with a blockage of tourists due to the flooding of a tributary of the Mara River. The situation forced nearly 165,000 residents to leave their homes, following orders to evacuate areas deemed to be at risk.

In addition, Human Rights Watch criticizes the slow government response to this disaster, especially in poor areas of Nairobi. They recommend proactive measures in line with the national climate change response plan. Meanwhile, the weather forecasts are hardly reassuring, announcing the possible continuation of these heavy rains.
