Banned laughing gas

#HERAULT The town hall has decided to extend the ban on the sale and consumption of nitrous oxide which was in force this summer to the whole year. For two years, laughing gas has been banned from June 1 to September 1 in the town. “It’s a real public health problem, with strong addictions and sometimes dangerous behavior. This decision is obviously to protect young people”recalls the security assistant, Jérôme Bonnafoux.

Also, in the coming weeks, supermarkets, bazaars and grocery stores will receive a letter asking them to comply with this decree, while this product, used as an analgesic by doctors, is also used in cooking or in car tuning.

Panini celebrates La Grande-Motte

#HERAULT Among the many festivities and surprises marking the 50th anniversary of La Grande-Motte, an original Panini collection is arriving in the resort. A special album of 60 vignettes dedicated to the history, architecture and identity of the City of the Pyramids is produced by the cult publisher, in partnership with the city.

Vignettes can be collected free of charge from partner merchants and municipal sites in the municipality. As for the albums, they can be collected free of charge at the reception of the town hall or the tourist office.

The 75th international fair ready to take off

#HERAULT By choosing the theme of space and accumulating new products, the international fair and its 500 exhibitors should exceed 100,000 visitors, from October 11 to 21, at the Parc des Expos in Montpellier. “Of the 500 exhibitors, 280 are established in ”, welcomes Marie-Thérèse Mercier, regional advisor and president of SPL Occitanie Events.

“This will allow us to once again highlight local products.” Around a hundred artisans will be present. Exhibitors will be divided into five categories: home and garden, shopping, pavilions and nations of the world, better living and information.

Today’s number: 180

#SÈTE This is, in meters, the length of the Club Med 2 cruise ship, the longest five-masted sailboat in the world, which stopped in Sète this Tuesday. Arriving from a little late in the afternoon, he was due to cast off towards Barcelona in the early evening.

This cruise ship carries around 350 passengers pampered by around 200 crew members. Nothing to do with the usual sea giants!

The management of the ASBH highlighted by the Wise Men

#BÉZIERS The regional chamber of accounts looked into the management and accounts of the SASP Béziers rugby and the ASBH association during the 2018-2019 to 2022-2023 seasons. Among other things, she points the finger at the City’s SCIC, insisting on the fact that a municipality cannot participate in the capital of a commercial company.

The Court of Auditors notes, among other things, that “the City, which intended to replace the absence of a buyer (of the club, Editor’s note), created this structure to take control of the club and perpetuate its economic model”. The mayor of Béziers Robert Ménard, who initiated the SCIC, persisted and signed.

“My only concern was to save the club, to prevent it from being relegated,” he insists. “It was my only obsession. Yes, a Scic was initially not made for that but it was the only legal way to be able to raise money.”
