VS’is a double murder by bullets, perpetrated Tuesday evening in Brienne-la-Vieille, a few hours from the 1er-May, for which this father of a large family, also from the community of travelers and bearing the surname Heitzmann, will have to answer. At the end of his police custody, relocated to Reims, in the premises of the research section (SR) of the gendarmerie, the suspect, aged 53, should be transferred to the Troyes judicial court so that he can be notified his indictment. At the end of the debates before the liberty and detention judge, he will know the fate that will be reserved for him for the remainder of the investigation: pre-trial detention or judicial review. If the outcome leaves little doubt, nothing has yet been decided.
One lifeless body in the house, the other outside
This individual was arrested Wednesday, mid-morning, in a wood located near the location of the commission of the facts. Refugee in his vehicle, with two of his children, aged around ten. The outcome of a double drama that occurred the evening before, in a house owned for several decades by members of the Chatelain family, settled travelers. The two victims, two men, one in his thirties, the other in his fifties, were shot dead: one in the house, on a chair, the second, outside.
Two other victims, slightly injured
Two other victims have come forward. The first, who reported the facts to the police, was targeted in her vehicle. The second was injured in the head, probably caused by one of the two weapons found on the fugitive.
As soon as the alert was given, around a hundred gendarmes were mobilized overnight until the next day. Local units, others from Reims, criminal identification technicians, personnel from the Dijon air section, three surveillance and intervention platoons, the GIGN, etc.
The investigation was entrusted jointly to the Bar-sur-Aube research brigade as well as the Reims research section.
