SKL launches urgent call for action against insecurity and soaring prices

The Sant Karl Lévêque Human Rights Organization (SKL) strongly urges the Presidential Transitional Council to act promptly in the face of growing insecurity and rising prices, two scourges which are plunging the population into increasing distress. In a note dated April 30, 2024, the organization said that the suffering endured by citizens has forced them into a nomadic life, while economic and political actors seem to ignore their concerns.

Indeed, the SKL urges the Presidential Transitional Council to act quickly by taking several urgent measures. “Strengthen the capacities of the police and the army to guarantee security and free movement across the country, as well as to allow displaced people to return to their homes and children to return to school. »

In addition, Sant Karl Levêque calls for the establishment of effective social programs to help the population in the grip of famine, and to take measures to reduce the prices of basic necessities. The organization emphasizes the importance of restoring order so that Haitians can go about their business in complete safety. She warns of dire consequences if authorities persist in their inaction, stressing that public administration must not be used for personal gain.

At the same time, in the note, those responsible for Sant Karl Levêque recalled that the protagonists of this chaos always find a way to renew themselves on the political scene.

“Sanctioned yesterday because they actively participated in the deterioration of the situation in Haiti, they are today signatories of an agreement setting up a transition composed of nine members responsible for stabilizing the country. We insist on the fact that these nine individuals are the product of the different sectors which have occupied the Haitian political space over the last thirty years at all levels of decision-making and have contributed to the disintegration of the State and the chaotic situation of Today. » (Core Group, oligarchs, former parliamentarians, political racketeers, which implies that the catastrophic context is in no way unknown to them, denounced those responsible.
