The entrance to the exhibition displays works in cellular concrete adorned with feathers and branches representing, with a shamanic tone, the “Spirits of the forest”. They were created by young people from the Source Garouste Sainte-Victoire, and introduce the 3rd biennial of painting and sculpture in Aix-en-Provence. RENK’ART 2024 is organized by the association Les Artistes independents aixois (AIA) and if the 2022 edition had welcomed more than 2,000 people, attendance could still explode given the number of people at the opening time, Saturday 28 September, at the La Manufacture gallery. 129 artists are on the walls for a week.
It is, explains Remi Lechanoine, “allow amateur and professional artists, without being able to distinguish them, to exhibit in optimal conditions with a real enhancement of their works“.
Amateur and professional artists from 18 to 80 years old
Two years ago, it was an amateur painter, a cardiologist at Salon, who won the public prize, which will be awarded on Saturday October 5 at the end of the day. During the last biennial, the adventure led for some amateurs to the sale of their work which caused a crush or even to exhibitions in professional galleries.
