The Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, ​​announced on Monday, September 23, during a meeting in Matam focused on preparations for the 2024-2025 school year and the celebration of “National Literacy Month”, the upcoming holding of the cleaning day set for October 5. According to the minister, this edition will be devoted exclusively to schools.

According to the Senegalese Press Agency (APS), “the Prime Minister announced that on October 5, the Sétal Sunu Reew cleaning day will be exclusively focused on the Sétal Sunu School. This is also to show the will of the Senegalese government to make the school the most important foundation for the transformation of this country,” he said during a meeting of the Regional Development Committee (CRD).

However, the meeting took place in the presence of education stakeholders, administrative authorities and local elected officials. This national “Sétal Sunu Reew” Day is a social mobilization initiative launched by the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye since June to “bring the populations to participate in taking charge of cleanliness and the living environment in their neighborhoods.”

As a reminder, this initiative began in Thiaroye Gare in Dakar in June, the national day of ”Sétal Sunu Reew” took place in , the first weekend of July, in Touba at the beginning of August and in Matam, at the beginning of September, reports the Senegalese Press Agency.
