Between November 2023 and January 2024, the price of pork hovered around €1.78/kg. This drop in prices is accompanied by an increase in demand. In the Uniporc zone, there is a resurgence of slaughters+ 12,000 pigs compared to last week according to the French pork market. However, the weights should see a significant increase (+ 200 grams) to approximately 96.4 kg.

Increase in pork imports to Germany

In Germanythe lack of impetus on the pork market does not revive trade. The reference is renewed for the seventh week in a row. In the country, slaughtering is progressing. The increase is estimated at 1.5% between January and July 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 according to the Friend. Nearly 25.7 million pigs were slaughtered. This small increase in slaughters is also accompanied by an increase in live imports. Between January and July 2024, 11.9 million pigs and piglets were purchased mainly on the Community market (+19%), with in particular 4.39 million pigs and piglets coming from Denmark (18%), which compensates largely the decline coming from the Netherlands (-3% to 2.316 million heads).
