the Minister of Higher Education believes that “the red lines have been crossed”

Form problem. Asked about the pro-Palestinian student mobilization which has blocked Sciences Po since the night of Thursday April 25 to Friday April 26, the Minister of Higher Education, Sylvie Retailleau, expressed her disagreement with the methods used.

“This is not the framework for a peaceful debate. The way, the form, even the demands, have no legitimacy to be made in this way,” she said on our antenna.

While access to the school was blocked all morning this Friday and the administrative closure of certain buildings of the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) was declared, Sylvie Retailleau considers that “the red lines have been crossed” by the activists.

Still on site at the end of the morning despite attempts at dialogue by the university administrator, the committee demands in particular “the clear condemnation of Israel’s actions by Sciences Po” and “the end of collaborations” with all “institutions or entities “complicit” in the systemic oppression of the Palestinian people. He also calls for an end to “the repression of pro-Palestinian voices on campus.”

The management strongly condemns these student actions which “prevent the proper functioning of the institution and penalize students, teachers and employees”, we can read in a press release. The introduction of distance learning courses has been organized.

A delegation of students mobilized to try to find a way out of this situation through dialogue is still in talks with the head of the IEP.
