Many residents still remember this Easter weekend under the water.

In , the town of Montmorillon is among those most affected. The mayor, Bernard Blanchet, wrote to the Minister of the Interior on April 19 to inform him ofa series of dysfunctions in the management of the crisis. He also expressed it alongside several other mayors to Senator Bruno Belin this Wednesday.

Sirens broken

When Gartempe exceeded its alert threshold, the mayor asked for the alarm siren to be triggered on the roof of the town hall. Gold, it would have broken down when it was time to sound it. His interview was up to the State, according to the elected official who relates, in his letter, a response from the prefecture: “no means of alert will be deployed at the risk of causing people to panic“, he writes.

Bernard Blanchet asks, finally, exemption or payment of the insurance deductible for victims. In the meantime, he plans to put the town’s old sirens back into service. They will be tested this Thursday, May 2 at 12 p.m.
