Jean-Pierre Foucault nearly died after a double cardiac arrest. In an interview for TV Grandes Chaînes, he talks about his recovery and his desire to continue to fully live his passion for animation, after more than 50 years of television career.
Jean-Pierre Foucault, the iconic host of French television, made his fans’ hearts tremble in April 2023. Victim of a double cardiac arrestthe 76-year-old man narrowly escaped death. Fortunately, Evelyne Jarre’s husband was quickly taken care of at the Marseille hospital. He was saved thanks to emergency surgery. Nearly a year and a half later, Jean-Pierre Foucault looks back on this significant event in his interview for TV Major Channelswhere he explains that his health is now “impeccable”. With his usual humor, he declares: “I died twice, so I’m a bit ahead, I’m calm.“This shock made him reconsider his priorities: “What I have been experiencing for the past year and a half is a bonus. My priority now is to live.“
In a previous interview with Cinema TV Reviewthe host had recounted the strangeness of this experience: “I wasn’t scared because I was fine. When the fireman massaged me, I asked him, ‘What are you doing? I’m sleeping!’ He told me I wasn’t sleeping.“This episode which marked the TV star was followed by a long rehabilitation, but Jean-Pierre Foucault confided that he now lived “as before”.
