Ligue 2 (D33): after Annecy at home, Stade Lavallois sinks to Pau (0-3)

A week after missing its subject on its Basser lawn, by losing to FC Annecy (0-3), Stade Lavallois went this Saturday evening, to the foot of the Pyrenees, to Pau, to face one of its competitors in the Top 5. Faced with a Paloise team, with good offensive potential and only two points before kick-off, the Tango had little choice but to continue their good series away to bounce back and above all get off to a good start to a high-risk week, with three matches on the program, and not the least…

Cold-picked Tango…

The meeting could not have started worse for the Tango, with the team reshuffled at kick-off with the tenure of Gonçalves, Thomas and Adéoti. From the first incursion into the Laval defense, Sylla got the upper hand on Diaw and deceived Samassa with an unstoppable cross strike (1-0, 3′). The Mayennaise reaction did not take long. A cross from Gonçalves was brilliantly deflected by Kamara (7′). A good shot from Sanna forces Kamara to lie down (20′). The debates are balanced. The Laval residents are trying to get back on the scoreboard. A good corner from Gonçalves found Diaw’s header well captured by Kamara (24′). As we head towards the half-hour mark, a good free kick from Saivet is well deflected with both fists by Samassa (29′). Two minutes later, Samassa was on display again with a great strike from Begraoui (31′). But, on the ensuing corner, hit by Mohamed, Sylla, again, cuts the ball with his head to double the lead for his team (2-0, 32′). Hard blow for the people of Laval. Before half-time, Tango had the opportunity to reduce the score. Labeau-Lascary comes up against Kamara (42′). And well launched in the axis, Labeau-Lascary sees his shot go just over (45+1′). The break is whistled on this advantage in favor of the Palois (2-0).

The Laval residents can’t do it in the second half…

Returning from the locker room, the first situation was to the credit of the Mayennais with a nice shot from Sanna which brushed Kamara’s post (50′). Boutaïb is very close to increasing the score for his team, but Baldé is there to block his attempt (53′). The Palois will manage to triple the stake. Beusnard managed to get the better of Gonçalves to score the third goal (3-0, 65′). With the simultaneous entries of Bobichon, Vargas and Kadile, Olivier Frapolli tries everything for everything. Kadile saw two of his attempts narrowly miss Kamara’s goal (72′, 77′). The Laval residents are definitely not polished and above all unable to score. Nothing more will be scored in this meeting and in particular in the five minutes of added time, despite a final strike from Kadile which ends its race on the Kamara post (90+2′). The Laval residents conceded their first away defeat of the year 2024 and saw themselves, at the same time, ejected from the Top 5 (7th). Bad evening…

After this new defeat, the second in a row, Stade Lavallois will continue with a new trip, and not the least important, this Tuesday. The Tango will challenge the leader, AJ Auxerre (kick-off at 8:45 p.m.). A meeting which will be experienced live on France Bleu Mayenne…
