In an unprecedented criminological statistical study, the Béziers Public Prosecutor’s Office examined 817 cases of violence.

Alcohol, drugs and delinquency. The Béziers public prosecutor’s office has just completed rare criminological statistical work: it sifted through a cohort of 817 cases for intentional violence, judged in 2018 and 2019 by the criminal court. In its conclusions, the study emphasizes the preponderant role of addictions – alcohol and drug consumption – in voluntary violence.

However, the fight against these addictions has not been a national priority for years. Very often, justice comes to an end. She notes the damage, tries what she can, announces obligations of care which will be followed in various ways, even though the problem goes well beyond her skills.
