This Friday, March 22, a very successful open day took place at the Maison “En Casa”, 2 chemin des Rochers.
In Casa (At homein Occitan) is located in the former Cazaux hotel, completely rehabilitated into 11 apartments by the Foundation for Social Housing and whose volunteer Director is Palmino PAOLUCCI.
In two words, “En Casa” is: a roofnecessary to allow people in precarious situations to find a stable living situation and above all, a family climate offered thanks to the diligent and enthusiastic presence of volunteers who give this house its spirit of joy by giving their time or by living in the house.
Thus, the vocation of En casa is to help residents in precarious situations regain full economic and social autonomy thanks to: participation in household life (cooking, maintenance); the activities, workshops and times of spiritual life offered; support in finding long-term work and housing.
From 2:30 p.m., the volunteers welcomed visitors including several personalities who came in succession at different times of the Day: the Bishop of the Tarbes Lourdes Diocese Mgr Jean-Marc MICAS, the Rector of the Sanctuary Father Michel DAUBANNES, chaplains from the Sanctuary. It must be said that in 2018, this House was a request from the former Bishop of Lourdes Mgr Nicolas BROUWET who had formally written to the Italian association Pope John XXIII Community, which already runs around a hundred shared accommodations in Italy for people in difficult situations. of social insecurity, to ask him to open a house in Lourdes.
Among the personalities also came the Mayor Thierry LAVIT and the delegated municipal councilor Nicole PEREZ and the President of the Foundation for Social Housing (FLS) Michel RÉCIPON…
Palmino PAOLUCI thanked them for coming despite their busy schedule, thanked the volunteers, the FSL, indicated that this House, open for 3 years, was that of everyone, that of sharing, of exchanges, of respite, of help to rebuild yourself personally, a roof over your head to regain full autonomy, a “step” towards a better future. Everyone brings what they have, “there is no one so poor that he has nothing to give, there is no one so rich that he does not need anything. And very often here we see Providence in action! »
Mayor Thierry LAVIT said he was happy with this festive day which is good for everyone. This House is the image of what the city of Lourdes is today “we are of all colors, of all origins, 32 different nationalities live in Lourdes and this House welcomes all people without taking into account their Nationality. Furthermore, when our CCAS has exhausted all possibilities for precarious families, women to be sheltered with their children, refugees and it asks you to welcome them, you always make room for them. Lourdes is the fraternal city where we recharge our batteries and repair ourselves and you are also working in this direction. Thank you Palmino to you and to all your volunteers who welcomed with a smile, with an open mind, with sincere kindness, you are in the DNA of our city. Please note that the social aspect is the first aspect to which we focus our attention when defining our budget. »
For the festive side of the Day, at 3 p.m., presentation of the workshops set up by volunteers and residents: baking, board games, listening… at 4:45 p.m. magic show and snack for children, at 6:30 p.m. “pizza party” prepared by Lucia and other treats brought by volunteers, visitors and guests…at 8:30 p.m. a concert with the pianist Giacomo CENSIONI (whom we will talk about in another article).
A wonderful charitable and united day, at the heart of a House of life and sharing.
