Citizens’ Day, which returns this Saturday, May 25, 2024, began in Azé (Mayenne), in 2015. The town is now part of Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, and this annual event continues. “ We want to involve residents “, explains Benoît Lion, deputy for local democracy in the city. Moreover, the associations and inhabitants of the region were consulted to find the actions to propose on the occasion of this day.

An action around book boxes

As always, the “let’s clean up nature” hike is back. The manufacture and installation of cupboards at the APE premises of the Bout du Monde school will also be offered. There is also the beautification of the senior residences of Les Umbelles and the Square des Ages: “We want to set up a participatory project with seniors “, specifies Philippe Delatour, municipal councilor delegated to the citizens’ day.

A workshop is also offered around book boxes. This involves collecting new works and refreshing those that are aging. “ The first were made during the first citizens’ days », recalls Philippe Delatour. “ Volunteers from the French cities reception association (AVF) offered a book recovery time. » The collection will take place at the associative center rue Jean-Sylvain Fouassier, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Totems, as well as directional signage will also be created for La Chalibaude. Finally, some of the participants will prepare small dishes based on fresh and local products for the convivial moment which will take place around 1 p.m. Last year, the citizens’ day brought together no less than 65 people.
