The Annecy animated film festival, which will be held from June 9 to 15, presented the program for its 2024 edition this Thursday. Major productions will accompany the films selected in official competition to receive the Golden Cristal.
The sequels to animated films from major American studios including Vice-Versa 2 And Despicable Me 4 will be the highlight of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, which presented the selection for its 2024 edition on Thursday.
A world reference in terms of animated cinema, the festival, which will take place from June 9 to 15, will award a Gold Crystal to Terry Gilliam, author of cult films like Brazil Or Las Vegas Paranoid. The American has notably signed animated sequences in Monty Python films, for example.
The major American studios, including Pixar, have once again responded and will unveil their next films. The first images of expected projects will also be presented, including the next DreamWorks (The Wild Robot) Or Moana 2 at Disney.
The film “Moana 2” will be presented at the Animated Film Festival, like other big productions (“Despicable Me 4” or “Transformers One”)

Among the other expected projects, the adaptation of the humorous adventures of the cat Garfield (Garfield: Hero in spite of himself) and on the French side, the first images of the animated series Asterix and Obelix, the battle of the leaderssigned Alain Chabat.
In terms of competition for the Cristal d’Or, after Linda wants chicken!which won in 2023, twelve films are in the running, from France, Japan, Latvia, Australia and China. The Most Valuable of Goods by Michel Hazanavicius is one of them, and will open the Festival, a few weeks after its world premiere in competition in Cannes.

- Anzu, Ghost Cat (Japan, France);
- The Colors Within (Japan);
- The Most Precious of Goods (France, Belgium);
- Madogiwa no Totto-chan (Japan);
- Memoir of a Snail (Australia);
- Rock Bottom (Spain, Poland);
- Savages (Switzerland);
- Slocum and me (France);
- The Imaginary (Japan);
- l’Orage (China).
Director Wes Anderson (Isle of Dogs, Fantastic Mr. Fox) will be the guest of honor at the Festival, which will also have a section dedicated to virtual reality (VR).
