Murder in Terrebonne: the victim is linked to an influential Montreal boss

TERREBONNE – The 32-year-old man who was killed after a general brawl that occurred Thursday evening in a stripper bar in Terrebonne is close to a powerful Montreal gang leader.

When police entered the O’Gascon Gentleman Club around 2:30 a.m., they located the bloodied body of Jessy Furtado-Bénard, a criminal well known to metropolitan police officers.

He interests the authorities mainly for his close links with the boss Jean-Philippe Célestin, who allegedly works on behalf of the Sicilian clan of the Montreal mafia.

Jean-Philippe Célestin during his brother’s funeral last March.

Leader of a Montreal gang, he was the right-hand man of the late gangster Gregory Woolley.

His brother, Brandon Jean Célestin, was also the victim of a resounding murder in February in Montreal.

In any case, it is still too early to determine whether Terrebonne’s murder is linked to his relationship with the gang leader, our sources indicate.

Chairs and shattered bottles

For a reason that remains unclear, a general fight broke out inside the licensed establishment on Chemin Gascon shortly before closing. In addition to numerous punches, objects, such as chairs, were thrown at customers. At least two of them were stabbed, presumably with burst beer bottles.

Jessy Furtado-Bénard had no chance. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The criminal had an extensive criminal record, including domestic violence, weapon possession, assault and drug trafficking.

Another 25-year-old man was seriously injured and taken to hospital. He is now in stable condition. Everything indicates that he tried to flee in his Acura vehicle, which was found covered in blood in the bar’s parking lot.

He is also known to the police, particularly for cases of serious assault, carrying a weapon and armed assault.

Many witnesses

According to our sources, many customers fled on foot during the fight, leaving their vehicles behind.

As the Sûreté du Québec is currently looking for witnesses, it intends to question all the people who come to collect their vehicle on Friday.

Personal crimes investigators were dispatched to the scene early Friday. SQ forensic identification technicians are also on the ground to collect all the evidence.

As the bar is in a busy and commercial area of Terrebonne, investigators are likely to collect numerous security camera images.

At this time, no arrests have been made.
