The woman who had been missing since last Saturday in Iffigbach near Lenk in Simmental was recovered dead by emergency services on Saturday morning. The Bern cantonal police announced this on Saturday.
A week ago on Saturday, a woman fell into the Iffigbach while taking a walk in Lenk im Simmental. Since then, an intensive search has been carried out for the missing person.
On Saturday morning, emergency services spotted a lifeless person in the Iffigbach. With the help of a Rega helicopter, the woman was rescued from the water, but she was only confirmed dead.
The police assume that this is the woman who has been missing since last Saturday. There are concrete clues as to her identity, but formal identification is still pending.
Last weekend, another tragic accident occurred in the Bernese Oberland: A man fell into the Giessbach Falls with his toddler. The man was recovered dead under difficult conditions on Tuesday morning. The child remains missing.
