“He’s getting used to it. What’s important is the consolidation,” explained Didier Deschamps in a press conference after Les Bleus qualified for the quarter-finals. “The consolidation is obviously better every day. Despite everything, there is the aspect linked to sweating which can bother him.”

“There’s also the vision,” continued the coach of the Blues. “From what he tells me, he feels like he’s seeing the images in 3D. Even if it’s tenths of a second… The front vision is fine. But on the side vision, it can lead to less clear vision. He’ll have to get used to it because to protect it, he might wear it for a few weeks or even a few months.”
According to Deschamps, Mbappé is therefore likely to finish the Euro with this protective mask, starting with the quarter-final this Friday against Portugal (9 p.m.). According to the French technician, the captain of the Blues could also make his official match debut with Real Madrid, scheduled for the weekend of August 17-18 on the Mallorca pitch (1st day of La Liga), with this accessory.
