A 120-meter-long crack in the ground has formed at the Mesocco South motorway junction. It was initially unclear whether this was the result of the storm. External experts are currently investigating the crack.

As of Friday, no results were yet available regarding the effects, the Graubünden Civil Engineering Office wrote in a statement this afternoon.

On Friday, the office opened the cleared cantonal road to travelers with a verifiable reservation in Misox. People with a destination between San Bernardino and Grono GR are entitled to use the cleared cantonal road. Due to the cleanup work, it is otherwise only usable for local traffic.

Transit traffic that cannot pass the A13, which was destroyed by the storms, must not be routed via the cantonal road. It is crucial to keep as much traffic as possible out of the area so that the road is available for construction machines, trucks and the local population, the Graubünden Civil Engineering Office wrote. People in Switzerland should free up living space that they are not using. This is the view of the Association of Master Builders. According to Association President Gian-Luca Lardi, existing living space must be used more efficiently – the housing shortage has reached its limit, Lardi told the Tagesanzeiger newspaper. This proposal is controversial because older people in particular often live in single-family homes or apartments that are too big after their children move out.
