“Hello Dirk.” – “No, Jörg.” The intro to the new RTL jungle camp revealed how many Z celebrities underestimate the long-time cult reporter Jörg Dahlmann. The man whose sayings in football reports entertained or alienated the nation.
Sexist comment about Simone Thomalla
As a reminder: Dahlmann caused a shitstorm with a sexist comment during the DFB Cup game between Union Berlin and SC Paderborn. When the then Berlin substitute goalkeeper Loris Karius was shown, Dahlmann angered some viewers with a comment about Karius’ girlfriend at the time, Sophia Thomalla. “Now in Berlin he’s just sitting on the bench. Has the advantage that he can cuddle with his Sophia Thomalla at home. But I would also sit on the bench for a night of cuddles with Sophia,” says Dahlmann.

Was that that bad? In any case, Sky ended the collaboration. Dahlmann complained about Sky in the jungle camp on Friday evening: “They ripped me off…”
To put things into perspective: I, the author of this text, was a sports reporter for SPORT BILD and kicker-sportmagazin for 20 years.
Dahlmann, hundreds of colleagues and I flew around the world to report on football games. My friend Felix Görner from RTL once said during a Greek club’s Champions League game: “The ball goes a gyro wide of the goal!”

Was that racist? In any case, Görner was banned as a commentator on RTL for 14 days. The German language pope Marcel Reif was upset about the humorous formulation… The same Marcel Reif who said about some texts from print colleagues: “Ceramic department, off for it…”
