UEFA have hit Shamrock Rovers with €18,000 worth of fines following the Conference League match between Chelsea and the Hoops in Stamford Bridge in December.
Both Chelsea and Rovers were fined €10,000 for ‘transmitting a message that is not fit for a sports event’. The Rovers fine relates to chants about the British monarcy from away supporters, while the Hoops also got an additional fine of €8,000 for ‘throwing of objects’.
In the first half, Christopher Nkunku was delayed in taking a Chelsea corner due to paper rolls being thrown onto the pitch from the away section of the ground.
This brings the total UEFA fines for League of Ireland clubs to €61,000 for 2024. A breakdown of the other fines is shown here.
