Joris Van Rossem, better known as Metejoor, has had a tough period. In a candid conversation with James Cooke in the James & co program, the 34-year-old singer talked about his burnout and how he is finding himself again. “I definitely don’t want to end up in that situation again,” he says firmly.
Metejoor, who is known for his energetic performances and sporty lifestyle, felt completely exhausted. “I am very insecure, but I always want more and constantly try to prove myself,” he says. The constant pressure to perform eventually took its toll. “At one point I was completely devastated. I suddenly couldn’t do anything anymore.”
The singer indicates that it was confrontational to recognize how far he had let himself go. “You must always be there, for yourself, but especially for others. I now know that I have lived very much to please other people.”

During the conversation, Metejoor emphasizes that he now wants to approach his life differently. “It’s time to think about what I want,” he says. Yet he remains vigilant. “At moments of stress I still feel drained. But I now know that I can’t let it get to that point anymore.”
