Invited in At Jordan's this Monday morning on C8, Céline Géraud revealed that she played a role in one of the seasons of Star Academy, far from her sporting prowess.
Eclectic. This is how we can describe Céline Géraud’s journey. The latter has, in fact, worn several hats since her debut within the French judo team. From her childhood spent on the tatami, all the medals won by this ex-European champion remain today. Internationally, she rose to second place in 1986, before finally reaching the first place in the Glam Slam in 1988. Once all these challenges had been overcome, the athlete, also a graduate of the Journalists' Training Center, decided to turn to this other area. After a stint at France Télévisions, she arrived on TF1 and became interested… in reality TV!
Céline Géraud explains how she found herself working (and living) at the Star Academy !
In 2005, Céline Géraud surprised all her public service colleagues by agreeing to host Temptation Island. A surprising choice for the mother used to commenting on sports tournaments or presenting programs of the same genre. The program then broadcast on the front page therefore confronts her with a new challenge. The thirty-year-old adopts the codes of reality TV and even agrees to work for another concept with candidates to follow 24 hours a day: the Star Academy. Invited At Jordan's this Monday, January 20, Céline Géraud explains: “As soon as I arrived at TF1, I did two things. I went to see Alexia Laroche-Joubert to get my press card and I asked her if I could do the Star Academy. So I was in the basement of the castle of Dammarie-les-Lys and I wrote the episodesno one knows that. This allowed me to get my press card back! At the same time, I worked, I was a journalist in the sports department and I did freelance work at Automotive et Téléfoot”. Confidences which intrigued the host…
Céline Géraud looks back on her not very comfortable daily life behind the scenes of the Star Academy
If the role of sports teacher would have been perfectly cut for Céline Géraud, the judokate had a very different job behind the scenes of the tele-hook: “I was in the basement and I followed the candidates' lives all night. I slept at the castle and at night, between midnight and 6 a.m. [du matin]I wrote the episode which was broadcast in La Quotidienne during the season [gagnée par] Magalie Vaé. If she never had the pretension of hosting this barnum, the mother of three girls finds the new season “nice” and admits to being surprised by the return of the show. And for good reason… “The castle was still in absolute disuse even when we were there, it was a little dilapidatedyou felt like it needed to be freshened up. The decor where the candidates lived was going very well, but all the ancillary parts… We slept in rooms above, a little in the attic, where the people who worked on site were housed since I was doing the night sessions”reveals the woman who is today a figure in Europe 1.
