Is that bitter for VfL Bochum! Perhaps the second goal conceded in the game against RB Leipzig on Saturday afternoon shouldn’t have counted because Xavi Simons was just offside. However: no calibrated line could be drawn, so the video referee could not intervene.

What had happened? In the 13th minute, VfL Bochum couldn’t get into the duels at all, so RB Leipzig was able to combine again in front of Patrick Drewes’ goal just minutes after Willi Orban took the lead. In the center, the Bochum players couldn’t get the ball away on the edge of the penalty area, so Nusa took heart and simply shot. The ball went into the near corner. 2:0 for the guests. But: In the hustle and bustle at the edge of the penalty area, Xavi was probably just offside with his heel. At least that’s what the sixteen-meter line suggests.

Referee Robert Hartmann awarded Nusa the goal, but the VAR intervened. Guido Winkmann had apparently indicated in the Cologne basement that the scene needed to be checked again. The players stood on the field for a long time and waited, but the stadium itself was quiet. Does the hit count – or not? He counted.
Nusa scored the interim 2-0 for RB.

A little later, Cologne announced via Sky with: A calibrated line could not be drawn because a person was supposedly standing in front of the camera. Accordingly, no wrong decision could be found in the Cologne cellar. Therefore, the referee team had no choice but to give the goal.
At this point, VfL Bochum was already behind. After ten minutes, Ivan Ordets failed to attack Leipzig’s Willi Orban, who hit a cross almost from the outside line. This failed, became a shot and fell into the net at the far post. Patrick Drewes completely misjudged himself. Nusa then followed up – even if it smelled like Xavi Simons was offside. In the 22nd minute, RB even upped the ante and were able to pass the ball back and forth again unmolested until space was freed up for David on the left side. He was able to play into the middle unhindered by Myron Boadu, where Baumgartner tipped the ball into the far corner. We went into the break with a 0:3 deficit. But then VfL got going…
