Franjo von Allmen celebrates his first World Cup victory on the Lauberhorn. This has become apparent.
The podium
- 1. Franjo von Allmen (SUI) 1:47.65 minutes
- 2. Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT) +0.10
- 3. Stefan Rogentin (SUI) +0.58
Franjo von Allmen provided the perfect Lauberhorn start with a Swiss look. The Bernese Oberlander showed a formidable performance in the Super-G with start number 3 and set a best time that none of his competitors could beat. Von Allmen caught the key spots Minschkante and Kernen-S very well and was able to keep his speed high in Langentreinen.
The 23-year-old only didn’t get the passage with the target S perfectly. But his reserves were already large enough at this point. Vincent Kriechmayr came in second, losing 0.10 seconds to the Swiss. Stefan Rogentin, of all people, shone in third place, having had a serious fall in the first downhill training session on Tuesday.
A triumph with an announcement
For Von Allmen it is the first victory in his young World Cup career. This first-ever triumph was evident for the speed specialist. In the last two downhill runs in Val Gardena and Bormio, he finished second, narrowly missing out on his first victory. In the Super-G division, Von Allmen’s best result was 3rd place in Garmisch (GER) in January 2024.
The other Swiss in the top 20
- 7. Marco Odermatt +1.04
- 9. Alexis Monney +1,27
- 14. Justin Murisier +1,58
Marco Odermatt landed next to the Super-G podium for once. The man from Nidwalden lost an unusually long amount of time in the wide turns in Langentreien and had to make do with 7th place, over a second behind. In the past 19 races in this discipline, Odermatt had always finished in the top 5 and celebrated 9 victories.
-In addition, the overall World Cup leader ranked outside the top 4 in a race on the Lauberhorn for the first time. In 8 previous attempts in Super-G and downhill, Odermatt had won three times in the Bernese Oberland, came second three times and also achieved a 3rd and 4th place each driven out.
The 4th Swiss in the top 10 is Alexis Monney. At the last Super-G in Bormio, the French-speaking Swiss came third on the podium.
This is how it continues
The highlight of the Lauberhorn races is on the program in Wengen on Saturday: the descent. The technicians will also be involved on Sunday when the slalom takes place.
