The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration announced that, as of today, Wednesday, January 15, 79 male and female inmates have been recorded infected with measles (Bouhamroun), including 07 juveniles, two women, and a child accompanied by his mother. 27 of them have recovered after undergoing the applicable treatment protocol.

The same delegation indicated, in a report, that the cases of infection were distributed among the local prison in Tangier, with 25 cases (24 in isolation and one case undergoing treatment in the public hospital), and the local prison in Ain Borja with six cases (5 cases in isolation and one case undergoing treatment in the public hospital). And also the local prison in Muhammadiyah with 5 cases, then the local prison in Al-Arjat1 with 3 cases.

The report added, “Two cases of infection were recorded in each of the central prison in Kenitra, the local prison of Bourkaiz in Fez, the local prison in Benslimane, and the local prison of Souk Arbaa, and one infection in each of the local prisons of Bouarfa, Kelaa Sraghna, Tetouan, Berkane and Tan-Tan.”

The same source also mentioned that seven employees, including a female doctor, were infected and subject to the aforementioned health protocol.

It was stated within the same document that, within the framework of the efforts made by the General Delegation in partnership with the Guardian Ministry in order to prevent the spread of this disease in prison institutions, 11,620 male and female inmates and 332 male and female employees benefited from vaccination on a voluntary basis and under the supervision of the frameworks affiliated with the regional delegations for the health and social protection sector.

The communication indicated that all prison institutions continue to mobilize to prevent and limit the spread of this disease, in implementation of the requirements of the memorandum circulated to them in this regard, and in close procedural coordination with the guardian sector.
