Saturday evening, on the sidelines of the New Year’s reception of the N-VA, in Mechelen, Bart De Wever reacted to the demonstration organized Monday by the unions in common front, who oppose the reforms that the negotiators of the Arizona coalition are considering, particularly in matters of pensions.
“People have horror scenarios that aren’t reality“, reacts Bart De Wever. “The unions, it is their task to encourage or excite people just a little bit“, he continues before adding that “go on strike before the agreement is made, therefore go on strike against measures that we do not know, that I will not do.”
Would Bart De Wever be prepared to roll back certain measures once the government is in place and in the event of continued opposition from the unions and the streets? “Going back is impossible”, he replies, highlighting the Belgian debt to justify the reforms. “But yes, I expect resistance from the left, PTB, PS. They will excite people and incite people to strike“, concludes Bart De Wever.
