Starting XI

Thibaut Courtois

He was hardly challenged for the entire 90 minutes. The Belgian did not have to intervene when Larin had a header. Otherwise, he radiated his usual calm. REAL TOTAL rating: 3.

Lucas Vazquez

The Galician actually seemed stable in one-on-one duels, but then made two or three careless mistakes. For example, the right-back was too late for Larin’s header (19th minute), so the ball almost went in. A much better performance in attack, not only because of his assist and the three key passes. All in all, a game with both light and shade. REAL TOTAL rating: 3.

Aurélien Tchouaméni (until the 55th minute)

Until he was substituted due to injury, the Frenchman showed once again why Ancelotti currently uses him as a second central defender in important matches. The 24-year-old won all direct duels. He also impressed with his good positioning and the necessary composure on the ball. After his collision with Larin, however, “Tchou” seemed slightly dazed and was consequently substituted. REAL TOTAL rating: 1,5.

Antonio Rüdiger

As he has done so often in recent weeks, Rüdiger delivered a confident performance. The German may occasionally show a small weakness in box defense. However, in one-on-one combat and in terms of body language, he is extremely helpful to the record champions. REAL TOTAL rating: 2.

Ferland Mendy

As usual, the Mallorcans found it hard to get through the Frenchman’s side. Mendy is and remains a solid player and is an important factor in ensuring that the Royal defense is fairly solid despite many absences. Compared to Vázquez, he is a much more consistent defensive player. REAL TOTAL rating: 2,5.

Federico Valverde (until the 74th minute)

Real Madrid without Federico Valverde in the starting eleven – that hasn’t happened yet this season. The crowd favorite also started in the control center in the Supercopa. The midfield boss had slightly fewer ball actions than recently (52 in 74 minutes). Nevertheless, he gave the Blancos’ game structure and acted as a link between defense and offense (two key passes). No wonder the crowd bid the Uruguayan farewell with loud applause. REAL TOTAL rating: 2.

Edward Camavinga

The left-footer was undoubtedly the pacesetter in midfield that evening. “Cama” not only had the most ball actions in the Real Madrid jersey, but was also the best man on the pitch in terms of tackling (won eight out of twelve duels) as well as deep and transitional play (two key passes, several actions as a ball carrier). REAL TOTAL rating: 1,5.

Jude Bellingham

He put the Royals on the road to victory after just over an hour. Bellingham set up his own goal for the 1-0 with a quickly taken free kick, then picked up speed to push the ball over the line on the third attempt. This presence of mind and thirst for goals, which the ex-Borussia player lacked a little at the start of the season, is currently a key factor in the record champions’ success. REAL TOTAL rating: 1,5.

Rodrygo Goes (until the 87th minute)

Basically, it was a good performance from the Brazilian, as he was very present and active. Rodrygo had three shots on goal in the first half, but initially lacked the necessary killer instinct. The birthday boy was also there before Bellingham’s opening goal, but only hit the post. It was all the nicer that the now 24-year-old gave himself a present in injury time after Vázquez’s cross. REAL TOTAL rating: 2,5.

Kylian Mbappé

While the Frenchman seemed almost lethargic in some games, especially in the first third of the season, he once again impressed on Thursday evening with many good moves. He repeatedly initiated impressive attacks and also scored well himself on a few occasions. Before the redeeming opening goal, Mbpappé first passed the ball to Vinícius before (unfortunately) failing to push the rebound over the goal line after Rodrygo hit the post. Nevertheless, the super start played a part in the creation of the important 1-0 – and also acted as a ball carrier in the final third. It’s a shame that the attacker didn’t reward himself with a goal shortly before the end. REAL TOTAL rating: 2.

Vinícius Júnior (until the 88th minute of the game)

After his red card in LaLiga, the Brazilian seemed a little irritable in the first half and not always fully focused on the essentials. However, when Bellingham scored the important goal, the winger had his feet in the game with a cross to Rodrygo. A few minutes later, he missed the chance to make it 2-0 himself after a wonderful solo effort (78′), only to set up a great chance for Mbappé just a few moments later (80′). The appreciative applause when he was substituted must have done his recently battered soul some good, even if he can certainly bring more to the pitch. REAL TOTAL rating: 3.
