Three SNCF unions denounce the lack of cleanliness, deterioration and dilapidation of certain trains on Ouigo trains. These inexpensive trains run much longer than conventional TGVs.

To describe the Ouigo trains, the unions do not mince their words: “wrecks”, a state “deplorable”of the “repeated malfunctions” and “bugs” among the passengers. What is it really? The toilets have not been cleaned, there are stained or even torn armchairs or even cigarette butts on the floor in the trains. On social networks, videos from users on the dilapidation of Ouigo trains are multiplying. According to the unions, the situation comes from a lack of maintenance and overuse of the trains.

When a classic TGV travels 500,000 km per year, the Ouigo is pushed up to 700,000 km each year. The SNCF admits to concerns about cleanliness and aging of the interior of the trains, but denies any risk to the safety of passengers. To improve the service, the cleaning workforce will be increased and the Ouigos modernized in 2025. Comments which have not convinced the unions, who are calling for a strike to demand more resources for maintenance.
