CHARLIE HEBDO – Ten years later, the jihadist attacks against Charlie Hebdo and the Hyper Cacher at the Porte de were commemorated this Tuesday, January 7, with gravity and emotion. At the end of the morning, at the same time when the killings took place a decade earlier on rue Nicolas Appert, in the 11th arrondissement, the survivors of the editorial staff, the families of the victims and many personalities gathered.

On the sidelines of the official ceremony, near the former premises of Charlie Hebdo, TF1 journalist Paul Larrouturou briefly interviewed Elsa Wolinski, the daughter of the cartoonist Georges Wolinski, murdered on January 7, 2015.

“Ten years ago I said, 'I hope they didn't die for nothing.' And in fact I came back saying to myself that perhaps they had died for nothing (…) because there have been lots of attacks since, because we no longer laugh at everything, because no longer no one mixes. So I hope that today is the renewal of something”declared the writer, with a touch of emotion, as you can see in the video above. “I hope that finally, finally, these ten years will teach us things. »

“I don’t believe that is still Charlie”

“I don't believe that France is always Charlie, but I still believe that the “Charlie” spirit must remain. It’s still what’s most essential today, that we mix, that we mingle, that we laugh at everything”added Elsa Wolinski, also explaining that she has never returned to the former premises of the newspaper since the attack because she “was afraid”.

Names of the victims pronounced, laying of wreaths, bell ringing for the dead, minute of silence, Marseillaise…the sequence of this Tuesday noon was sober, in a neighborhood cordoned off by the police. Hands crossed, the director of Charlie Hebdo Riss, himself seriously injured in 2015, looked at the facade for a long time, thoughtfully.

Emmanuel Macron, former President François Hollande, in office at the time of the attacks, the mayor of the capital Anne Hidalgo, Prime Minister François Bayrou and several members or former members of the government were present. The Head of State notably came to speak for a few minutes with the families, away from the press.

From January 7 to 9, 2015, the brothers Chérif and Saïd Kouachi and Amedy Coulibaly targeted freedom of expression, law enforcement and the Jewish community, during attacks ” contact details “although claimed by two distinct entities, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS).
