SNCF has announced an increase in the prices of its Inouï and Ouigo tickets by 1.5% from Wednesday January 8. The company assures that this increase will not affect low-cost tickets. Other increases are expected during the year, reports Ouest .

TGV Inouï and Ouigo tickets will see their prices increase in 2025. An increase of 1.5% was announced by SNCF, which should be followed by further increases during the year. This announcement takes effect from Wednesday January 8. “SNCF Voyageurs is therefore maintaining an increase in prices at the level of inflation forecast for 2025 in order to protect the purchasing power of its customers and to ensure an offer accessible to as many people as possible”indicates the public company in a press release published Tuesday January 7.

An increase which will not concern the first prices

The same justification for an increase following inflation was also used by the SNCF in 2024 after an average price increase of 2.6%, reports Ouest France. According to the company, this increase should not concern the first Inouï and Ouigo prices. Further increases are expected during the year, these concerning TGV Max Active and Active + subscriptions. These will increase by four percent on average.

An increase in prices which is not without making travelers cringe, indicates BFMTV. In fact, the 1.5% increase is only an average. Depending on the destinations, profiles and dates, this could be more or less strong. It all depends on how the increase is calculated. According to the ART (Transport Regulatory Authority), when the SNCF announced a five percent increase in 2023, the authority calculated eight. Figures disputed by the railway company.
