Good news, NVIDIA announces DLSS 4, and your PC will surely benefit from it!

NVIDIA hit hard last night by unveiling its RTX 50 graphics cards with crazy performance. But if the GPUs show such interesting results, it is also and above all thanks to the firm's DLSS and in particular DLSS 4 which has also just been revealed, with a nice surprise in store.

DLSS 4 is revealed with multi-image generation

While DLSS took its first steps with DLSS Super Resolution, it then developed and notably offered image generation and Ray Reconstruction with the RTX 40. The RTX 50 cards allow DLSS to take a further step with multi-image generation, which further improves the framerate of games thanks to AI.

Powered by GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs and fifth-generation Tensor Cores, the new Multi-Frame Generation feature with DLSS accelerates frame rates by using AI to generate up to three frames per frame for display .

With DLSS and RTX 50, up to three images per frame are generated in order to boost the framerate, for quite impressive results. In the video below, we can indeed see the Cyberpunk 2077 game captured on an RTX 5090, which runs at more than 230 FPS thanks to DLSS 4, while it struggles to reach 30 FPS without DLSS.

The definition is set to 4K with Ray Tracing in Overdrive mode, graphics settings at maximum, DLSS Multi Frame Generation (4X Mode), Ray Reconstruction and finally DLSS Super Resolution in Performance mode.

We might as well say it right away, DLSS is therefore a necessity here to enjoy the game in 4K with its settings at maximum in good conditions.

DLSS 4 will also benefit the RTX 40, 30 and 20!

If multi-image generation is reserved for RTX 50 cards, DLSS 4 will also allow various improvements in Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, which you will surely be able to benefit from too!

Indeed, as evidenced by the table on the NVIDIA website, DLSS 4 will also benefit owners of RTX 40, RTX 30 and even RTX 20 cards, cards released in 2018.

We will obviously have to wait before knowing the details of the improvements planned for Super Resolution and DLAA, but this is still good news if you have a previous generation card.

Transformer-based ray reconstruction and DLSS super resolution models use twice as many parameters and four times as many calculations to deliver greater stability, reduced ghosting, higher detail, and improved antialiasing in game scenes.

DLSS 4 will be available at the launch of RTX 50 cards on January 30, with compatibility announced for 75 games and software that you will find below. Highly anticipated games like DOOM: The Dark Ages, Dune: Awakening and The Witcher IV will also support DLSS 4, and NVIDIA announces that other titles will follow.
