Emilia Perez star Zoe Saldaña got tearful while accepting her prize for best supporting actress in a motion picture at the 2025 Golden Globes.
“My heart is full of gratitude,” Saldaña said from the podium at Sunday’s ceremony about her first-ever Golden Globes win. She went on to thank the Netflix film’s cast and crew, including director Jacques Audiard, star Karla Sofía Gascón and fellow category nominee Selena Gomez: “This is a first time for me, and I’m just so blessed that I’m sharing this with Selena and Karla and Jacques and all of my fellow nominees. I’m in awe of you.”

Saldaña, who earned her first Golden Globe nomination for the film, praised her fellow nominees for their support. “All I have witnessed is just us showing up for each other and celebrating each other, and it’s just so beautiful,” she said.
In commending Audiard, Saldaña gushed, “You’re so French and so chic and confident and kind — I love it.” She added about her co-stars, “Adriana, Édgar [Ramírez] and Selena, I’m sharing this with you. Karla, no one other than you could have played Emilia Pérez.”
The other nominees in the category included Gomez, Ariana Grande (Wicked), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Margaret Qualley (The Substance) and Isabella Rossellini (Conclave). Moana 2 voice stars Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson presented the award.
Heading into Sunday’s ceremony, Emilia Perez landed the most nominations of any feature film with 10. In addition to Saldaña and Gomez, the film was nominated for best picture and non-English language picture, Gascón for best actress, Audiard for director and screenplay, best original score and two nods for best original song.
Nikki Glaser hosted the 2025 Golden Globes Awards on Sunday from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The ceremony can be seen live on CBS and Paramount+ With Showtime.
