The Saint-Germain-du-Corbéis cyclo-cross is canceled due to the weather

The cyclo-cross of Saint-Germain-du-Corbéis (Orne), initially planned Sunday January 19 2025 at Parc de l'Élan, was canceled due to a timpassable terrainwaterlogged after heavy rainfall.

Impassable terrain

The organizers, including the municipality, took this decision to preserve the site. “If we maintain it, we will massacre the land,” explains Dominique Chanteloup, deputy mayor of Saint-Germain-du-Corbéis. “In addition, there will be no one: no public, no runners. It's no use. »

A difficult decision for the elected official who regrets not having solution alternative. No other grounds are available to host the event.

This is not the first time that cyclo-cross has fallen victim to the vagaries of the weather. Already in November 2023, the competition had to be canceled due to theflooding of the land.

Change period

To avoid further disappointments linked to the weather, Dominique Chanteloup now plans to no longer schedule the cyclo-cross in January.

The new strategy would be to organize the event at the start of the cyclo-cross season, i.e. end of September or early October.

However, setting a date remains a challenge. “We have to find a niche where no other race is held nearby,” specifies the elected official. To date, nothing has been decided yet.
