In tribute to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo, and Hypercacher attacks, Jean-Luc Moudenc, Mayor of , invites a moment of contemplation on January 7 at noon, Square Charles de Gaulle.

Ten years after the tragic events of January 7, 8 and 9, 2015, which forever marked the collective memory, the City of Toulouse is organizing several tributes. Jean-Luc Moudenc, Mayor of Toulouse and President of Toulouse Métropole, invites residents to a ceremony of contemplation this Tuesday, January 7, at noon, at Square Charles de Gaulle, in the presence of Pierre-André Durand, Prefect of the Region.

This solemn moment will be dedicated to the memory of the victims of Islamist terrorism, with a special thought for Bernard Maris, journalist and economist from Toulouse, who fell during the attacks against Charlie Hebdo.

An exhibition at Matabiau station

During this day, the plaques of the nine Toulouse streets bearing the names of victims will be decorated with flowers. Furthermore, on January 31, at 3 p.m., Allée Clarissa Jean-Philippe will be officially inaugurated by the mayor.

From January 13, an exhibition of testimonies from the “Charlie Fund” will take place in front of Matabiau station. This collection brings together 420 texts and drawings deposited in 2015 on the Place du Capitole, and preserved thanks to the municipal archives.

Jean-Luc Moudenc declares: “Ten years later, the pain is still raw. But our memory is intact and our conscience is awake. […] The attacks on Charlie Hebdo, Montrouge and Hypercacher have forever marked our history. We were thus reminded of the fragility of freedom of expression and freedom of the press.”

The mayor will also participate, on January 11 at 3:30 p.m., in the citizens' gathering organized by Licra, Printemps Républicain and the Comité Laïcité République, on Place du Salin.
