Big scare for passengers on an Air France flight after a pressurization problem: News

While it had just taken off, an Air flight had to turn around due to a pressurization problem in the cabin on the evening of Friday January 3. No one was injured.

An Air France flight, which was to connect CDG to Barcelona, had to turn around just 17 minutes after takeoff. The reason? A cabin pressurization malfunction, reported BFMTVSaturday January 4. The flight was canceled and no injuries were reported.

Loss of pressurization is a potentially very serious emergency situation. Indeed, pressurization makes it possible to fly at high altitude without having physiological risks linked to the drop in atmospheric pressure. The plane therefore had to carry out technical checks on its return to Paris CDG. “Air France crews are regularly trained to handle this type of situation in accordance with the manufacturer’s procedures”reacted Air France on its X account.

Oxygen masks deployed

In a video published on the social network, we see the crew activating the fall of the oxygen masks in the cabin, “in application of the emergency descent procedure”the company said. She explained that all passengers were taken care of and “will be rerouted to Barcelona as soon as possible”. Air France “regrets the inconvenience caused by this situation and recalls that the safety of its customers and crews is its absolute imperative”.

In June 2024, a failure affected the pressurization system of a Boeing 737 Max mid-flight between South Korea and Taiwan. The pilots must have caused a fall of more than 8,000 meters. 17 people were slightly injured.
